Million dollar listings are the norm in Boston. In fact, without a million bucks in your pocket, you really can’t play the real estate game in Boston. And sometimes, all that million dollars will get you is a basic and sterile condo with four white walls and very little character. Well, in our latest tour with Boston Real Estate Maven, Allison Mazer, we take a peek at one of her latest listings that breaks all of the Boston property rules.

Allison always gets the best properties, so our jaws shouldn’t have dropped as hard as they did when we saw the two bedroom property on Commercial Street. But, when you take a gander at these photos by ace real estate photographer Briggs Johnson, you’ll be pushing your tongue back into your mouth too.

We are more than willing to wager that everyone loves exposed beams and field stone fireplaces. They are rustic details that remind us of a ski chalet or take us back to a simpler time. No matter of what they are reminiscent, they are always cozy and induce the need for a soft blanket, goblet of red wine, cheese plate, and game of Scrabble (or Cards Against Humanity for you more progressive folks.) They are also features that one never expects in Boston, let alone the waterfront. Well, Unit 4-A at 158-160 Commercial Street laughs in the face of that expectation.

The two bedroom, two bath 1,130 square foot condo lists for $1,099,000.00. That’s sort of a steal when you consider the average per square foot cost in Boston, plus the pure beauty of the unit.

Need more enticing? Someone got the decorating in this joint right. Terracotta floors welcome you upon entry and soothing grey tones co-mingle with the rustic details to immediately put you at ease. The unit is capable of warming the cockles of your heart with an actual wood-burning fireplace. Ample storage space via large closets provides a functionality lacking throughout many Boston properties. What else does it offer? How about a renovated luxury kitchen, exposed brick walls, soaking tub, and our favorite, walking distance to a gazillion mouth-watering Italian restaurants in the North End.

With all of these details, it’s no wonder Boston Magazine named the property as one of the top five open houses this weekend!

But, we won’t bore you with anymore of our chatter. We’ll let Briggs’s photos speak for them self. Enjoy taking a peek into this million dollar listing!

A big bear hug goes to top-performing Gibson Sotheby’s agent Allison Mazer for sharing the details of the home, as well as to Briggs Johnson Photography for providing these spectacular images!

Cheers!
