Mulonniere 2015 Chenin Blanc

COST – $12.99 – $21.00

GRAPE – Chenin Blanc

COUNTRY – France

REGION – Loire Valley

TASTING NOTES – Subtle aromas of almond and acacia, complemented by fresh grape and honey notes. On the palate, the wine is soft and well-balanced with lovely length due to the freshness provided by the Chenin Blanc. Enjoy as an aperitif to share with friends. The perfect accompaniment to fish – both cooked and raw, Indian or Asian-inspired dishes, and even fruit-based desserts.

TALES FROM A TASTING

Golden – that is how I would describe the Mulonniere 2015 Chenin Blanc. Not because of the pretty metallic gold details on the label. Not because of the freshly spun golden color poured into the glass. Not because it’s a bargain for the volume of flavor that comes with each sip. Well, okay, all of those things add to the golden quality of this Chenin Blanc.

The reason I am dubbing this golden wine with a Midas taste is the loveliness that rolled onto my tongue in the form of honeyed freshness. Golden honey with a subtle sweetness that is kept in check by the Chenin Blanc’s acidity.

How perfect is that color? That same eye-popping color gets carried into tastebud explosions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Mulonniere 2015 Chenin Blanc.

Now, if I were a winemaker, I would say Chenin Blanc is gold because of the grape’s versatility. It can be dry, sweet, semi-sweet, unoaked, oaked – It all depends on the growing conditions, cultivation, and winemaker’s style. A grape that can become anything really is gold.

I sampled the Mulonniere 2015 Chenin Blanc with prosciutto and mozzarella stuffed lemon risotto cakes. I’ll be honest; I don’t think it was my best pairing. But, it was still pretty dosh gone good.

Here’s what you need to know about this wine:
