TALES FROM A TASTING

Post Road Liquors was spot on with recommending the 2015 DOMAINE ROLLIN HAUTES-COTES DE BEAUNE ROUGE. First of all, red Burgundy or Pinot Noir is a classic poultry pairing. And if we’re really being honest, not only does Pinot Noir goes well with most things, but it is a light wine that pleases most palates; basically, it’s easy to drink. (So, watch out!)

This “Haute” red Burgundy is as expected light and enjoyable. The forwardness of the red fruit will easily fit in between bites of turkey, and of course everyone’s favorite (at least mine) stuffing! I liked the subtle tannin on the finish as well. Head to any of the Post Road Liquor sister stores and receive 20% off this Thanksgiving wine pick!

Now, for those of you who want to stand out among the Thanksgiving guests, consider bringing something different! Nick from Post Road Liquors recommends this Divine Droplets sake, not only because he feels sake doesn’t get enough love, but also because of the quality.

There are six main levels of sake; the Divine Droplets is a Junmai Daiginjo, which is nearest to the highest quality. The terminology Junmai Daiginjo refers to how thin they cut the rice molecule when they are brewing the sake. The process they use to make it, as Nick describes, is like a giant teabag, slowly dripping little divine droplets, rather than other sakes which are quickly pressed through the filter. For $36.99, pick up a bottle of Divine Droplets, and you’re pretty much guaranteed to bring something unique to Thanksgiving dinner. Unless everyone at the festivities read The Haute Life. 😉 Oh, and serve chilled. Cheers!

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday. As always, we’re thankful to Post Road Liquors for always making such excellent recommendations!
