Hot Toddy Recipe
Another Super Bowl, another heartbreak. If you’re a Patriots fan, you’re probably nursing more than just a hangover today; you’re also nursing a broken heart. Again. And while the cold New England air bites outside, we figured it’s high time to bulletproof more than just your coffee; it’s time to bulletproof your spirit. Literally.
You’ve likely heard the buzz about bulletproof coffee: a rich blend of butter and coffee that’s meant to fuel the brain and body for hours. But if butter in your morning cup is a win, imagine what it can do for your evening cocktail.
We started asking ourselves what liquor could stand up to such a decadent pairing, and didn’t have to look far. B is for bourbon, baby. The thought of a hot buttery Manhattan, warm, bold, and just a little over the top, was too tempting to pass up.
So here it is: a cocktail built to melt away the loss, warm your bones, and maybe even restore your faith (or at least your circulation). Meet your new off-season ritual: the Bulletproof Hot Toddy.
Ingredients
- 1.5 tablespoons piping hot, melted, fresh butter
- 1 tablespoon simple syrup – We used orange-vanilla.
- 2.5 tablespoons of preferred bourbon. We had Jefferson’s reserve on hand.
- A few dashes of Aztec Chocolate Bitters
- 1 Luxardo Cherry
- A glass that helps to warm the cockles of your heart.
Instructions
- In a separate glass, mix simple syrup, bourbon, and bitters.
- Melt butter till piping hot.
- Mix butter with the ingredients.
- Plop a cherry into the bottom of your favorite glass.
- Pour warm butter-bourbon mixture over the cherry in your glass of choice.
- Get ready to bulletproof your night! TIP – Don’t let this sit too long, or the butterfat becomes drink-proof, as in coagulated. 😉
